THE PRIMARY ROLE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IS TO GUIDE THE LONG-TERM STRATEGY OF THE ORGANIZATION AND ENSURE ADHERENCE TO OUR MISSION TO EDUCATE, INSPIRE AND CONNECT LGBT MBA STUDENTS.
Comprised of former Reaching Out MBA volunteers, the Board provides context, institutional memory, and lessons learned from past events, while leaving the authority and responsibility of the conference and programming to the Executive Director and current organizing committee.
Matt Kidd, Executive Director
With an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business, Kidd comes to the role with a background in product development in both technology startups and theatrical production. His experiences range from working with New York City-based start-up Tenlegs on sales and product marketing of its network for artists, to consulting for MyCityWay, a BMW-backed company dedicated to creating a personalized mobile app platform. Kidd has also served as a theatrical producer and communications consultant for commercial and non-profit arts organizations, and was on the Board of Directors of the Greater Boston Business Council.
Prior to starting business school at University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Corey spent five years focusing on the intersection of software and business processes at a global engineering firm in Austin, TX. At Booth, Corey is studying strategic management, operations, and entrepreneurship and plans to pursue a career in management consulting after business school. Corey is a Board Fellow at the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance.
Anthony Esposito, Treasurer
Anthony Esposito is on the Global Development team for Starbucks Coffee Company specializing in construction. Prior to Starbucks he directed construction projects and purchasing operations for Heller Realty and managed with The Palm Restaurant Group in NYC. He is a MBA graduate from Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business, focusing on International Business and Finance. Anthony holds a BBA in Marketing from The George Washington University. Anthony was a Co-Chair on the 2011 ROMBA Organizing Committee.
Corey Harris is currently the Director of Strategy, Consumer Insights, and Business Development at The Children's Place, a children's apparel retailer. He is also currently working with a boutique men’s apparel start-up based in NYC, Aksel Paris (www.akselparis.com). Prior to his work in the retail / apparel space, Corey was an engagement manager with Booz & Co. His experience there ranged from customer insights / market research to operations and organizational transformation. Corey received his MBA from Stanford GSB and was an organizer for the ROMBA conference in 2007. In addition to returning as a board member of ROMBA this year, he is also a board member of A Long Walk Home (a non-profit that uses art therapy and performing arts to end violence against girls and women). In his free time, Corey enjoys traveling in South America, tennis (always looking for a tennis partner in New York!), and watching foreign and independent films.
Erik Hebert, President
Erik Hebert currently works in Hewlett-Packard’s Strategy & Corporate Development group based in Palo Alto focusing primarily on software strategy and acquisitions. Prior to HP, Erik worked as an investment banker for boutique firm Savvian Advisors in San Francisco and Morgan Stanley in New York. Erik helped run the 2007 Reaching Out MBA conference in San Francisco with fellow students from Berkeley and Stanford. Erik holds a BA in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA from UC Berkeley. In his spare time, Erik is an avid masters swimmer and enjoys the many outdoor activities available living in Northern California.
Shane Proch-Wilson received his Bachelor of Science from Emory University in with a major in Environmental Studies, and is in his second year at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Originally from Canada, Shane brings a diverse background consisting of entrepreneurship (real estate private equity and reality television field production) and technology business development. He is an active member of the Gay-Straight Alliance at Tuck, as well as captain of the Tuck hockey team. Shane brings expertise in on-the-ground sales and market development to the ROMBA board of directors, and will serve as an advisory board member to the ROMBA 2013 organizing team. He starting with the Boston Consulting Group in the fall of 2013, in the Dallas office.
James Robertson, MPH, MBA, is Executive Director of India HIV/AIDS Alliance, based in New Delhi. Alliance India works to support community action on AIDS with particular emphasis on addressing the needs of vulnerable and marginalized populations such as men who have sex with men, transgenders, injection drug users, sex workers, and people living with HIV. Before joining Alliance India, he was a Senior HIV/AIDS Advisor at John Snow, Inc., where he managed bilateral programs in Africa and Asia. Earlier, he worked for the Global Health Initiative of the World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland and at the NAMES Project Foundation, the sponsor of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, in San Francisco. In 1999, while at Yale School of Management, James was a founding co-chair of the Reaching Out conference and was board president from 2006-08.
Kevin W. Smith is Senior VP-Strategy at HNW, Inc., a marketing consultancy in New York City. He serves as a marketing strategist to HNW’s client base developing marketing strategy solutions for financial services brands like Merrill Lynch, Charles Schwab and Royal Bank of Canada. Before joining HNW, Kevin spent ten years in the world of advertising, working with clients such as Coca-Cola, Intel, DirecTV, and Disney. Kevin holds a BA in Economics from George Washington University and an MBA from NYU-Stern School of Business. Kevin was a Co-Chair of the 2006 Reaching Out LGBT MBA Conference in New York.
Hannah Yankelevich, Secretary
Hannah is currently an associate consultant with McKinsey located in their Minneapolis office. Hannah just completed her MBA at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and was a member of the 2012 Reaching Out MBA organizing committee. Hannah works to increase women participation within ROMBA, advises the 2013 Organizing committee, and drives marketing initiatives for the organization. Originally from California, Hannah spent four years at Google prior to Tuck as an online marketing consultant to Retail shops helping to bridge online strategy and implementation with offline results. Hannah completed her B.A. at Smith College with a major in Economics and English.
