The 2008 Reaching Out conference will be held at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel (9thand K Streets), within walking distance of the city’s downtown and National Mall as well as DuPont Circle and the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro stop (Red Line).
We encourage conference attendees to arrive in Washington on the night of Thursday, October 30th, to allow ample time to attend the Career Panels, which begin at 10:00am the morning of Friday, October 31st.

Three major airports serve Washington, DC. The Renaissance Washington, DC does NOT provide transportation to/from any airport. Ground transportation options are detailed below.
Reagan National is the most convenient airport to downtown Washington — only a short, inexpensive ride on the subway — but it is also the city’s smallest airport and often has higher fares. The airport is served by most major airlines. Transportation to/from the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel:
- By Metrorail (subway) – Reagan National Airport is located on Metrorail’s yellow line. Traveling from the airport to the hotel, take the Metro in the direction of Fort Totten to Gallery Place/Chinatown station. (See below for directions from the Metro station to the hotel.) Traveling from the hotel to the airport, take Metro in the direction of Huntington to Reagan National Airport station. Estimated cost: $2.50 each way.
- By car - Follow these driving directions. Estimated cost: self-parking at the hotel is $22/day, and valet parking is $32/day.
- By taxi – Estimated cost: $25/each way.
BWI is located in Maryland, approximately 30 miles north of Washington, and is served by all major airlines. Transportation to/from the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel:
- By rail – Amtrak and MARC (Maryland Area Regional Commuter Rail) provide regular service to and from BWI Rail Station to Washington’s Union Station. Amtrak provides faster (20 minutes to Union Station), more expensive service, and MARC provides slower (30-40 minutes to Union Station), less expensive service. Estimated cost: Amtrak $15-30/each way; MARC $8/each way.
- By taxi / shuttle – Taxicabs provide service at a cost of $60-70/each way, depending on time of day and number of bags. For a more economical shared van service, we recommend Super Shuttle, which offers regular service directly to/from the Renaissance Washington DC. If possible, reserve your travel online in advance. By Rail
Amtrak provides frequent service to Washington, DC’s Union Station with its Acela Regional and Express trains. Book online at amtrak.com or by phone at 1-800-USA-RAIL. Transportation to the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel:
- By taxi – Taxis are available at the front of Union Station. Taxi fare to the hotel will cost $8-12 depending on the time of day, number of passengers, and number of bags.
- By subway –Upon exiting the Amtrak train, follow signs for Metro, and take the subway in the direction of Shady Grove. Union Station is located along the Metro’s red line, only four subway stops from the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro station, near the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel. **See below for directions from the metro station to the hotel.
