Tuck Tails are weekly happy hours that happen on Thursday evenings. It’s a chance to unwind with your classmates after a busy week (students don’t have Friday classes for most of the year). Each event is often sponsored by a different student organization. Tuck Pride uses the events it sponsors (e.g., Allypalooza and Diva Party) to raise awareness of LGBT issues. The October 9th Tuck Tails celebrated National Coming Out Day.
Two students told their coming out stories and another student shared his dad’s coming out story. Terry, Justin and Jay encouraged our classmates to help create and foster an atmosphere of tolerance and acceptance when we all leave Tuck. There was an overwhelmingly positive response from everyone in attendance. Students then headed over to the steps of Tuck Hall, the iconic building that appears in all the brochures, to light up the columns in rainbow!
