Affinity Events
Glass ceilings are being shattered - in politics, in school, and in business. LGBT women and people of color are not only entering the business world at record rates - they are leading it too. Join Reaching Out as we connect, build, and achieve success that spans the entire community.
Women's Reception sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim
MBA programs are working hard to become more inclusive. Business schools have made great strides in encouraging more and more women to pursue an MBA - but the reality still does not reflect this increased effort. Men consistently out number women by more than 2 to 1 in MBA programs, just as men still out number women in the corner office.
Reaching Out is committed to closing this gap by opening doors for all members of the LGBT community. Join us at this informal event to discuss the key issues facing queer women in the business world. Connect with other women who are breaking barriers and build the skills (and rolodex!) necessary for your own success as the new face of corporate leadership.
Reaching Out would like to thank the Association of Women MBAs (AWM) for all of their help with increasing the participation of women at the conference.
People of Color Reception sponsored by Clorox
Today, only seven Fortune 500 companies are led by African Americans while even fewer are led by Latino and Asian American executives. Not one CEO on the list is openly gay. In this world, the challenges facing LGBT persons of color can be doubly difficult.
The time is ripe for change. Virtually every Fortune 500 company has a nondiscrimination policy in place prohibiting discrimination based on race, or color - of that, 464 companies already extend that policy to include sexual orientation. Meanwhile, LGBT persons of color are entering and graduating from business schools at record rates.
Join other African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American, and International attendees in this intimate and informal setting, as we celebrate our diverse communities and discuss the rewards and challenges of entering the business world as a LGBT person of color. Connect with professionals already paving the way and find ways to build new paths of success for all people, in business and beyond.
