LGBTQ MBA Video Profiles: Julie Andress & Gordon Schoenfeld of Yale School of Management

In this video Julie & Gordon discuss how Yale SOM’s on-campus LGBT group, Out of Office, leverages the greater lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender graduate community at Yale for programming, seeks to turn “allies” into “active allies”, what it means to be out as an LGBT student and worker.

Yale School of Management is founding partner in the Reaching Out LGBT MBA Fellowship program – which provides a minimum $10,000 scholarship to a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or active ally (LGBTQA) business school applicants as well as  leadership opportunities and access to Reaching Out programming.

Our video interviews with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender MBA leaders from on-campus clubs are back for the 2014-2015 year!  Want to know what activities these clubs do or advice that current business graduate students have for LGBTQ MBA applicants?  How about scholarship opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer MBAs or business graduates? Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business Joins LGBT MBA Fellowship

Rice MBA LGBT Scholarship

We are thrilled to announce that Rice University’s Jones School of Business has joined the Reaching Out LGBT MBA Fellowship, created as a joint effort between top grduate business schools and Reaching Out to demonstrate that business schools & MBA programs are outstanding opportunities for self-identifying and out LGBTQ young professionals and their active allies to build their careers.

Each Fellowship recipient will receive a minimum $10,000 scholarship for each academic year during his/her full-time MBA as well as access to various Reaching Out programming, mentoring and LGBTQA leadership opportunities, some of which would be developed specifically for these Fellows.

As part of accepting the Fellowship, the students will also agree to take a national leadership role in planning content for at least one Reaching Out initiative during his/her time in business school.

In this video Rachel talks about NYU Stern OutClass’s activities, including its marquee end of the year party.  She also notes that “if you are applying to NYU Stern, I fully recommend that you be as out on your application as you are willing to be.  I think as a community, we need to stop looking at [being out] as a weakness and start seeing it as a strength.”
