Advance Registration Events at #ROMBA2016

As of today registration and applications for all advance sign-up events at the 2016 Reaching Out LGBT MBA & Graduate Conference (Oct 6-8 in Dallas) are open.  Below you will find three competitions (giving out $16,000 in awards this year) as well as three other events with highly limited attendance.  Competitions are filled on a first come, first served basis and the other events’ applications are reviewed in the order they are submitted, so if you are interested we highly recommend you submit an application ASAP!
Competitions (Pre-Registration Required)
When: Saturday, October 8th 11:15am-12:30pm
How good is your idea or business plan? Pitch your business to a panel of judges (thanks to StartOut) who are some of the industry’s top VCs with extensive experience in the space and hear feedback that will help you no matter where you fall. Win and walk away with some cash to help get your venture running! Both LGBT MBA & graduate students and LGBT MBA professionals are eligible to compete.
Award: $5,000
When: Saturday, October 8th 10:00-11:15am
The inaugural M&A Case Competition provides MBA student teams with the opportunity to experience the role of investment bankers in a mergers & acquisitions scenario. Teams will demonstrate their financial and strategic analysis skills before a prestigious panel of judges hailing from top banks. Join us for the final showdown of teams as they showcase their analyses of the case.
Award: $2,500
When: Saturday, October 8th 8:00am-1:00pm (depending on elimination round)
In the 14th annual ROMBA Case Competition, students will analyze a business situation and present recommendations to a panel of seasoned consultants from various consulting firms. This case will allow participants to test and display their business acumen and strategic thinking. Finals are open to the public to view. Congrats to the finalists!
Awards: $5,000, $2,500, $1,000
Other Events Requiring Application/Pre-Registration

The Dallas Trek will visit two major companies based in Dallas: AT&T and Southwest Airlines. Both headquarters are conveniently located near the site of ROMBA 2016, so this is a great opportunity for anyone interested in tech or travel or in exploring options in Dallas.

Join teams of 6-8 MBAs to tackle some of the most pressing issues facing LGBT and nonprofit organizations. Facilitated by management consultants and other professionals from McKinsey & Company, this session will be run like a consulting mini-case, creating strategies to solve major social problems.
When: Saturday, October 8th 2:30-5:30pm
Join team and experts in an interactive workshop where we will review the latest in human-centered design and practice applying it to LGBT-centered business issues.
