A group of gay & lesbian MBA students from Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago, Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University came together at the 2014 conference to put together a bid to host and organize the 2015 Reaching Out LGBT MBA & Business Graduate Conference.  These students were selected by the Reaching Out Inc to serve as the Student Leadership Team, which oversee the ideation and execution of conference content.

Michael Collins (Johnson School of Management at Cornell University)

Michael Collins is an MBA candidate at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He earned his BA from Northwestern University in African American Studies and Gender Studies, and his MA from Columbia University in African American Studies. Prior to business school, Michael worked at Diversity Best Practices, a boutique consulting firm and think tank based in New York City, where he advised corporations on diversity and inclusion strategies. Raised in North Carolina and the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Michael served on Out and Equal’s Metro New York Leadership Council, and as a youth mentor for New York City’s Independent School Diversity Network. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He enjoys writing, watching ratchet reality television, and spending time with his family.

Jordy Freeman (Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago)

Jordy Freeman is a first-year student at University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, where he is pursuing an International MBA with a concentration in Strategic Management. Prior to Booth, Jordy worked at JP Morgan Chase & Co, where he partnered with financial advisors and sales support staff, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of company products for optimal sales positioning.  Before JPMC, Jordy worked as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, and in call center operations management with MUY Brands. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Georgetown University, with a double major in English and Theatre & Performance Studies. In the rare event that he has free time, Jordy enjoys travelling, reading, household DIY projects, and trying out new recipes.

Phillip Hue (Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago)

Phillip Hue is a first-year MBA candidate at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he is pursuing a major in analytic management.  Prior to Booth, Phillip spent several years at Expedia as a manager in web analytics for the Local Expert division. While there, he served two years on the board of Guide, Expedia’s LGBT Employee Resource Group, where he created, advocated and executed initiatives related to internal policy, nonprofit partnership and inter-corporate diversity events.  Phillip graduated magna cum laude from The Wharton School with a BS in Economics, then spent several years in Hollywood in various production, development and agency roles.  Phillip is committed to breaking down the barriers between corporate environments and community involvement, and he enjoys travel, snowboarding, reading and interaction design.

Kati Karottki (Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago)

Kati Karottki is pursuing her MBA at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Marketing Management, Entrepreneurship and Operations Management. After stints with a small business start-up and an Olympic Bid, Kati worked for Octagon, a global leader in sports and entertainment consulting in NYC. She helped grow a new global account, consulting for a CPG client on their strategic planning, investing and marketing operations surrounding global properties such as the FIFA World Cup. A Chicago native, and having been on assignments in five countries across four continents in the past five years, Kati is happy to be back in the Windy City. She obtained her BS from the UMass-Amherst where she was a 2-time Atlantic-10 Conference Champion with the D-I UMass Women’s Rowing team. Kati enjoys the outdoors, playing table tennis, and going on adventures – particularly those that include brewery or wine tours.

Morgan Lippitt (Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University)

Morgan Lippitt is a first-year MBA candidate at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He grew up in Roseville, Minnesota right outside of Minneapolis. He earned a BBA in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, interned at an international medical non-profit and Target Corporation. Following school, Morgan took a job with Target Corporation doing in-store merchandising for the City Target project and Canada expansion. Most recently, he was at General Mills as a Marketing analyst for the cereal division’s multicultural team. Outside of work, Morgan was actively involved as an advisor for a chapter of his Fraternity at the University of Minnesota.

Melissa Liu (Booth School of Business, The University of Chicago)

Melissa is a first-year MBA candidate the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she is pursuing concentrations in Finance, Strategic Management, and Managerial and Organizational Behavior. Prior to Booth, she worked as a senior associate at EY in San Diego, where she led audit engagements of real estate and technology companies, working to help clients improve internal controls and financial reporting. Melissa also worked in EY’s transactions advisory group, providing financial due diligence services to private equity firms and corporate strategic buyers.  Melissa graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Management Science. She enjoys comedy television, traveling, and live music.

Rob Parsley (Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University)

Rob Parsley is a first-year MBA candidate at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He grew up in South Arkansas and later moved to Maryland. He earned a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Maryland, interned at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, and served for 7 ½ years as an officer in the U.S. Army. He had both clinical and administrative assignments in Honolulu, Hawaii prior to deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2011. Most recently, he managed the nursing program for Army ROTC in the Northeast U.S. Rob enjoys traveling and generally being active and is an avid foodie.

Roxana Solorzano (Johnson School of Management at Cornell University)

Roxana Solorzano is an MBA candidate at the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University. Before business school, she ran an art gallery and restaurant in the center of Barcelona. She also worked for Sotheby’s in their Spanish office and dealt with consignment of art works for international auctions. Prior to that she worked for the Mexican Ministry of Culture retrieving lost art objects in rural areas. She holds an MA in Art Management from the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona and a BA in Communications from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City where she’s originally from.
