REGISTRATION OPENS JANUARY 2020
SINCE 2008, EACH SPRING REACHING OUT HAS BROUGHT TOGETHER RISING ON-CAMPUS LEADERS FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FOR AN INSPIRATIONAL WEEKEND OF NETWORKING, CONNECTING, AND LEARNING BEST PRACTICES OF RUNNING AN ON CAMPUS CLUB FROM THEIR PEERS, REACHING OUT'S STAFF, AND OUTSIDE EXPERTS.
PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO CURRENT MBA AND GRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY.
Attend the summit with 100 other LGBTQ peers to build your network, share ideas, and raise visibility through meeting and interacting with fellow MBA lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender business school student leaders. Topics covered often include outreach on campus, building awareness, and growing LGBTQ MBA student club organizations.
INTERESTED IN ATTENDING?
Each school is allowed to send up to 3 of their LGBTQ student leaders at no cost. Students are responsible for their own travel and accommodations, but Reaching Out will provide all meals and some costs at receptions.

9:00 AM - 5:00 PM OPTIONAL VIDEOTAPING: WELCOME MESSAGES FOR THE CLASS OF 2021
Representatives from schools will have the opportunity to tape 60-second welcome messages to LGBTQs (and allies) who will be starting with the class of 2021 in the fall.
9:00 AM - WELCOME
Reaching Out MBA's Executive Director will welcome everyone and give them an overview of what the organization has planned for the 2019-2020 year.
9:30AM - CLUB REPORT OUTS
Following the organization update, each attending school will have the opportunity to give an update on important issues, topics, sucesses & challenges it is facing.
11:00 AM - PLENARY: HISTORY OF WORKPLACE LAWS AND POLICIES
This panel of representatives from the HRC and Lambda Legal will explore issues and tools in the protection of LGBTQ workers – including advocacy, mobilizing public opinion, and winning legal battles - with an eye to how the community has achieved recent milestones. Participants will leave this session with an understanding of where LGBTQ protections in the workplace stand today, lingering challenges, and how they as MBA students and future professionals can contribute to overcoming those challenges.
12:00 PM - ROMBA PRESENTATION
Members of the 2019 ROMBA Conference Leadership Team, comprised of students from 10 business schools, will preview plans for this year’s ROMBA Conference (October 10-12 in Atlanta, GA)

1:30 PM - CREATING INCLUSIVE LGBTQ+ CLUBS
Panelists with diverse perspectives discuss the challenges of inclusion within the LGBTQ community, from being an international student to welcoming allies - and share strategies to overcome those challenges. Learn how club messaging, social activities, and mentorship programs can make a difference.
2:30 PM - BREAKOUTS
Community Impact: Using Your MBA to Inspire Economic Prosperity. Explore the lingering problems LGBTQ business owners face and how organizations like The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) help solve them. This session will highlight pathways to recent major successes and detail the steps taken to achieve these results through coordinated effort on the local and national level. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how to contribute to the communities in which they reside throughout their career.
Engaging Employers. This session will discuss with business leaders and club leaders how clubs can engage with employers to hold networking events, information sessions for LGBTQ students and sponsorship opportunities. Conversation will explore how to create regular touch points throughout the year, and respond to questions like: what are companies looking for in hiring/recruiting? What events work best?
3:45 - PLENARY: ENGAGING ALLIES: HARNESSING THE POWER OF COMING TOGETHER
This session will break up students into small groups to brainstorm strategies for building an organized effort to bring in LGBTQ students based on a series of real-life scenarios. This will be followed by a presentation on how schools have managed to bring up matriculation rates.
4:45 PM - TAKEAWAYS, NEXT STEPS & CLOSING REMARKS
Reaching Out’s Program Manager will give a brief high-level recap of the summit content, provide next steps for clubs to begin incorporating what they’ve learned, and set reminders for key event dates and deadline for the upcoming year.
