I was born in Dallas and raised in Connecticut and Austin. I graduated Northwestern University with a BS in Theatre in 2015, and I've since been working in Chicago as a theatre administrator, primarily with Steppenwolf Theatre Company. My background includes work in events management, fundraising, and marketing.
What made you consider business school?
While my undergraduate education prepared me for the variety of professional theatre jobs I've held so far, I realized pretty quickly that I didn't have the hard skills required for the positions I wanted. I'm looking forward to strengthening and specifying my background in management, finance, and data analytics.
What are you most excited about in terms of your time in business school?
I'm pumped to learn and network with classmates and professors from a diverse work background. I've spent most of the last eight years working and living with mostly non-profit artist types. The business program at SMU attracts many young professionals from the energy sector, corporate finance and marketing, and the military; I'm looking forward to picking their brains to see how we can cross-pollinate management strategies and improve all of our industries.
Who are some leaders (in the LGBT community, in business, or in society) that most inspire you?
Tim Cook, Hillary Clinton, Emma Gonzalez, Tarana Burke, Pete Buttigieg, Asia O'Hara, and Rihanna.
What's one thing everyone should know about you?
I'm a talker, working on becoming a listener! Please remind me to shut up so I can enjoy the wit and wisdom of the folks around me.
