Meet Our Class of 2018 Fellows: Brendan McGrath

Cornell University, Johnson Graduate School of Management

Hi! I grew up on the south shore of Boston and went to St. Lawrence University for my undergraduate degree in Economics and Psychology. I've primarily worked in marketing at a market research firm, a TV production studio and two advertising agencies. I have lived in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and studied abroad in Copenhagen. I am planning to pivot careers from a more marketing focus to a human resource or public sector focus.

What made you consider business school?

I want to become a more effective leader in all the aspects that make a great leader. Investing two years into my education for my career to improve my leadership skills and play up my unique leadership style was one of the primary reasons I am getting my MBA.

What are you most excited about in terms of your time in business school?

I am incredibly excited about meeting new people, becoming a part of a new university and community, engaging and building different skill sets, the travel opportunities, and, being a ROMBA fellow and LGBTQ leader on campus.

Who are some leaders (in the LGBT community, in business, or in society) that most inspire you?

Tim Cook, Hillary Clinton, Anderson Cooper, and Ellen Degeneres.

What's one thing everyone should know about you?

I love meeting new people and am always up for good conversation with someone new.
