Meet Our Class of 2018 Fellows: Brittany Hunter

Vanderbilt University, Owen Graduate School of Management

I am a former student athlete (Duke/Uconn women's basketball). I have worked in education for the past 7 years in Harlem. I enjoy working out and reading. My favorite podcasts are: The Read, Ted Talks and Snap Judgment. Finally, while I listen to most genres of music, I am particularly fond of classic jazz like Frank, Chet Baker, Ella, and more contemporary sounds like Amy and Adele.

What made you consider business school?

I found that I was financially illiterate and unable to hold sound conversations outside of the education sphere and that made me uncomfortable. Moreover, I wanted to change careers/functions.

What are you most excited about in terms of your time in business school?

I am excited to network and to join different clubs.

Who are some leaders (in the LGBT community, in business, or in society) that most inspire you?

Tough question, but people that I am following the most: Lena Waithe, Issa Rae, Laverne Cox.

What's one thing everyone should know about you?

I am tall and have been this height since I was 13, so yes, I have been asked the questions you are going to ask me, a MILLION and one times. Depending on how you ask them, however, I am more inclined to indulge you in a response.
