Sable Worthy is an MBA candidate at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Despite her love of the sun and warm weather, Sable has lived in the cold since leaving her hometown of Los Angeles after high school. She first moved to Connecticut where she received a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Yale University. She then moved to Brooklyn where she dug into mobile advertising as a media planner at Horizon Media. Next, Sable explored the technical side of digital advertising, serving as an ad ops manager and later U.S. Strategy Director for a Paris-based mobile ad server, building inventory partnerships and a roadmap to competitiveness within the US market. Most recently, Sable launched her own media consultancy, Worthy Media LLC, to provide individuals, small businesses and traditional media agencies with digital ad strategy and campaign execution. Despite the guarantee of significantly colder weather, she is excited to start her time as an MBA student in Illinois.
What made you consider business school?
I’ve had a blast getting to know the digital advertising ecosystem and launching my own company. However, I’m eager to learn about a greater number of industries within our economy and the potential for problem solving across them. Business school will provide a structured opportunity to find new ways to tie my skills and passions to helping people to live happier and more fulfilling lives.
What are you most excited about in terms of your time in business school?
I’m most excited about getting to know my new classmates. Since college I’ve worked on small teams or on my own. I’m excited to meet folks with different backgrounds and experiences and to bounce some rad ideas off of one another.
Who are some leaders (in the LGBT community, in business, or in society) that most inspire you?
Right now, I'm paying particular attention to Gary Vaynerchuck. He pushes relentlessly the messages of positivity, patience and persistence that have been the most impactful in raising my own personal performance and accountability. I also think he’s very savvy and deliberate in the blend of media channels he uses to spread his message. I would love the opportunity to work with him in the near future.
What's one thing everyone should know about you?
Both my moon and rising sign are in Taurus.
