Tyler grew up in Ft. Collins, Colorado and attended Colorado State University where he received a B.S. in Business Administration with a focus on Real Estate Finance. An entrepreneur at heart, Tyler left Colorado after school and moved to the Bay Area to begin a career in real estate sales. He quickly established himself as a leader in the local market and at the age of 26, was asked to establish a new brokerage for the premier real estate development company in the east bay, Branagh Development. For the past six years, Tyler has helped grow this company into a successful brokerage with exceptional marketing and sales programs, and well over $100M in sales. In addition, Tyler was brought onto the leadership team at Branagh Development as the Director of Marketing where he is responsible for executing the company's brand strategy, managing marketing collateral, and designing investor prospectuses for capital raising efforts. Tyler is thrilled to be a MBA candidate at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business where he will pursue consulting with a focus on sustainability and CleanTech. In his spare time, you'll find Tyler hiking, wine tasting, skiing, or cooking with his husband (Rob) and their 3-year old golden retriever (Truckee).
What made you consider business school?
In recent years, I have grown in awareness that the decisions I make both personally and professionally play a significant role in the restoration or degradation of our environment. I am passionate about reversing the effects of climate change and believe the greatest opportunity lies in the business sector. Business school is my opportunity to explore the cross section of sustainability, business practices, and the circular economy, and learn the skills necessary to pursue a career as a sustainability consultant.
What are you most excited about in terms of your time in business school?
I am excited to be surrounded by peers who bring a diversity of backgrounds and experiences that will challenge my own worldview. After nearly ten years working, I crave an environment where I'm alongside peers who not only enjoy learning and challenging themselves, but have chosen to spend two years pursuing it!
Who are some leaders (in the LGBT community, in business, or in society) that most inspire you?
Patrick Lencioni for his simple, yet exceptionally impactful methods for business and leadership. Lady Gaga for her unwavering commitment to use her fame and voice to better the world for the next generation. Warren Buffet for his example of humility contrasted with tremendous success. Rob Bell for his passion and communication of a faith tradition that is accepting of ALL people.
What's one thing everyone should know about you?
I love to cook and am really passionate about food and wine!
